Praia do Vau
Located on the western side of Praia da Rocha and Portimao, Praia do Vau is one of the Algarve's most popular beaches. Traditionally, Praia do Vau was the beach of choice for wealthy Portuguese families that spent their summers in the Algarve. Today it is popular with visitors and residents alike.

Praia de Monte Gordo

Praia de Monte Gordo is a fantastic beach. Located just a little bit further down from Praia de Santo Antonio in Vila Real, the sand is almost white in bright sunlight and the waters are some of the warmest in the Algarve because of the short distance to Spain and the Mediterranean Sea.

Ermida de Sao Sebastiao


Ermida de Sao Sebastiao (Saint Sebastian's Chapel), the exact origins of this chapel are unknown, but it was rebuilt in 1745 by two of the best Algarvian master stone masons, Diogo Tavares and Manuel Aleixo. The chapel originally belonged to the municipal council of Tavira which was responsible for the fraternity of Saint Sebastian.

Praia da Dona Ana

Praia da Dona Ana at Lagos is embraced by the cliffs, which offer shelter from the sea breeze. Protruding rocks breaks up the sand and the sea is home to magnificent rock formations that offer a fabulous sight from the beach.

Arco do Repouso

Situated in old town Faro on the Algarve in Portugal, Arco do Repouso (The Resting Arch) is a doorway that gives access to the medieval walls, built by the Muslims during the Almohade epoch (12th and 13th centuries) in order to prevent the Christian invasion.

Pego do Inferno

Pego do Inferno (Pool of Hell) is in the parish of Santo Estevao, a few kilometres from Tavira. The name is somewhat ironic given that it's a beautiful turquoise - green lagoon with a 5 metre cascading waterfall that is a run off from the Asseca River. Locally Pego do Inferno is known as 'The Secret Waterfall' due to it's descreet location.

Vale de Centeanes
Situated a few kilometres to the east of Carvoeiro town, Vale de Centeanes is a lovely sheltered sandy beach that is backed up by the imposing sight of the towering cliffs which themselves show signs of erosion, giving for some spectacular rock formations.

Nossa Senhora da Graca

Praia da Luz

Praia da Luz is a long sheltered bay of fine golden sand with a backdrop of towering cliffs at the east end, and low rise white properties behind. Although it looks quiet in this photograph, Praia da Luz is a hugely popular resort that gets extremely busy during the summer months.

Praia da Salema is a long beach with the village of Salema directly behind it. Although Salema is somewhat larger than it used to be, it is still a typical Portuguese fishing village so the brightly coloured fishing boats are still a feature of the village.

Praia de Porto de Mos at Lagos on the Algarve is a vast stretch of beach backed up by towering cliffs. The furthest beach from the Lagos town centre and therefore often much quieter than the other beaches at Lagos.

Igreja Matriz
Igreja Matriz (Mother Church) in Alte on the Algarve, Portugal. Dona Bona, wife of Garcia Mendes de Ribadeneyra, 2nd Lord of Alte and 1st Vidame of the Algarve founded the Mother Church of Alte at the end of the 13th century. This church is consecrated in honour of Our Lady of the Assumption. The outside of the church is well known for its Manueline doorway and two baroque eye-windows.

Mount Foia

The highest point in the Algarve, Mount Foia peaks at 2959 feet and is part of the Serra de Monchiques mountain range. With breathtaking views, on a clear day one can see all the way to Cape St.Vincent in the west, Faro in the east and even as far as Lisbon in the north.

The Lighthouse at Cape St.Vincent
Situated approximately 6 kilometres from the village of Sagres is Cape St.Vincent. The lighthouse sits proudly on the edge of the almost vertical cliffs roughly 75 metres above the sea. Guarding one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world, the lighthouse is the second most powerful in Europe with its two 1000-watt lamps being visible from as far as 60 kilometres away.

Praia Grande is situated near the town of Ferragudo on the Algarve, Portugal. A long sandy beach located within the harbour walls of Portimao where the river Arade joins the Atlantic Ocean, with the fort of Sao Joao de Arade sat upon the cliff top overlooking the beach.
